About Each Ingredient
What Is Nattokinase?
Nattokinase is a powerful fibrinolytic enzyme that is extracted and purified from a food traditional eaten in Japan called Natto.*
Natto is a fermented food that resembles cheese and has been consumed in Japan for over 1000 years. In addition to its use as a popular food, it is also used as a folk remedy in Japan for heart and vascular diseases.*
Natto is created via a fermentation process whereby the beneficial bacteria "Bacillus subtilis" (also known as Bacillus natto) is added to boiled soybeans. As a result, the enzyme nattokinase is produced when Bacillus subtilis acts on the soybeans.*
Astaxanthin is a powerful biological antioxidant sourced from natural marine red algae. Its antioxidant capacity (free radical scavenging ability) is said to be hundreds of times stronger than that of Vitamin E or Vitamin C. Many doctors these days like Dr. Oz (Dr. Mehmet Oz) and Dr. Mercola (Dr. Joseph Mercola) are educating their patients about the health benefits of Astaxanthin and describing this nutrient as the mega-anti-oxidant to take. Doctors also refer to Astaxanthin as the "Super Vitamin E" or "King of the Carotenoids" ingredient.*
Coenzyme Q10 (Co Q10) is a substance that is made naturally in the body and also commonly found in dietary supplements. The body's cells use CoQ10 as an antioxidant and to make energy needed for the cells to continue to grow and stay healthy. The amount of Co Q10 in tissues decreases as people get older so dietary supplementation with CoQ10 can replenish the diminished levels of CoQ10. Healthy levels of CoQ10 can best support an effective defense against oxidative stress and age-related disease.*
Chlorella: The cell wall surrounding chlorella is naturally indigestible making it very difficult for the human body to absorb its nutrients. Our unique Organic Chlorella utilizes a "Cracked Cell Wall" process that enhances the chlorella absorption rate up to 80% while maintaining 100% of the naturally occurring nutrients!*
Monacolin K (Red Yeast Rice) is a naturally fermented ingredient that contains healthy substances such as multiple water-soluble enzymes, sterols and isoflavone ingredients and has been used by those looking to support healthy cholesterol levels and longevity.*

More information on Nattokinase
How was Nattokinase first discovered?
Japanese researcher Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi spent many years searching for a food substance that has thrombolytic (dissolution of a fibrinous clot) abilities. He tested over 173 foods in his years of research.*
Dr. Sumi's goal was to discover a food that naturally and successfully dissolves blood clots associated with heart attacks and stroke.
In 1980, while working at Chicago University Medical School, he discovered that when Natto was dropped onto thrombus (fibrin) in a Petri dish, the thrombus around the natto gradually dissolved.*
Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi named the newly discovered enzyme "nattokinase", which means "enzyme in natto" and stated that nattokinase demonstrated "a potency matched by no other enzyme."*
What are Fibrinolytic Enzymes?
"Fibrinolytic enzymes" are important systemic enzymes in the body that are used to naturally break down fibrin.*
In relationship to the circulatory system, the body uses fibrinolytic enzyme to remove fibrin out of the blood and blood vessel walls. This normal and healthy bodily action prevent clots in the heart and narrowing of the vessels.*
What is Fibrin?
Fibrin is the insoluble protein that is formed in the blood following a trauma or injury and is an end product of blood coagulation.*
While fibrin is essential for the body to stop excessive bleeding, excessive fibrin is known to be harmful to the body and can result in the production of excess scar tissue, cardiovascular issues like high blood pressure, thickening of capillary walls, capillary endothelial injury, thrombosis, or inflammation with associated pain.*
Excessive fibrin can also cause problems such as reducing the range of joint and muscle motion due to scar tissue, and inflammation which is sometimes associated with fibromyalgia.*
Why are Fibrinolytic Enzymes more important as we get older?
As we age, fibrinolytic enzyme production in the endothelial cells of the blood vessels decrease, and as a result, the body can become less efficient at removing fibrin buildups.*
This decrease in natural enzymes can lead to arterial plaque increases in the blood vessels, wounds leaving bigger scars, uterine fibroids, fibrocystic breasts, and organ issues such as hardening, shrinking, or decreased organ functions.*
Blood vessel blockages to the brain can result in a stroke, senility or dementia.*
The Japanese Natto Association recommends that individuals consume 2000 F.U. per day to ensure that the body maintains healthy fibrinolytic enzymes levels needed to maintain healthy blood flow throughout the body.*
Healthy blood flow is essential in ensuring that bodily organs and tissue receive the blood, nutrition, and oxygen they require.*

Nattospes is a blend of fermented bacteria Baccilus Natto extract, a traditional Japanese food called Natto, and herb Dioscorea (Chinese Yam). Natto has been widely used in Japan for over 1000 years as a folk remedy for heart and vascular support. Dioscorea is one of the more widely used tonic herbs in Chinese traditional medicine. This herb has a neutral energy and it is neither hot nor cold, therefore most anyone can take it. Dioscorea helps to support a strong digestion and metabolism.*
Each 100 mg of Nattospes contains 300 units (FU) of all-natural enzyme known as Nattokinase, a product of the fermented bacteria in Natto. Research by Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi and other scientists (1, 2, 3, 4) have shown multiple potential benefits of Nattokinase in supporting cardiovascular disease, stroke, angina, venous stasis, thrombosis, emboli, atherosclerosis, chronic inflammation and pain, peripheral vascular disease, hypertension, tissue oxygen deprivation, infertility, and other gynecology conditions (e.g. endometriosis, uterine fibroids).*
Dioscoreae has been traditionally known to replenish the spleen and stomach energy and to promote fluid secretion and benefit the lung. It has been frequently used in Asia for hundreds of years to provide support for the spleen, lungs and kidneys.*
The combined actions of Nattokinase and Dioscoreae in Nattospes help to promote healthy circulation and metabolism, which are essential for maintaining the bodys healthy balance.*
